ATHENS — Ohio University has hired Ohio State assistant John Groce as its men's basketball coach.
The 36-year-old Groce was introduced at a news conference Friday, June 27. He had been the top assistant under Ohio State coach Thad Matta for the past four years. He also worked under Matta at Xavier University and at Butler University.
The Bobcats finished 20-13 last season.
Groce replaces Tim O'Shea, who left this week to become head coach at Bryant University in Rhode Island.
