COLUMBUS — Defensive end Jonathan Newsome, a senior-to-be from Cleveland Glenville High School, accepted a scholarship from Ohio State on Tuesday, June 24, becoming the 23rd member of the team's 2009 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Newsome had 13 sacks as a junior last season and is rated as the ninth-best prospect in Ohio. He had offers from Illinois, Michigan State and Louisville.
"He'll play a combination defensive end-outside linebacker at Ohio State," said Bill Kurelic, recruiting analyst for Bucknuts.com. "He's an outstanding pass rusher."
